GVAS is only as strong as its cadre of volunteers. There are many opportunities and You do not have to be a birder to help. Come have fun with us!

Lead Field Trips

Find some friends, and some birds.

Do birding field trips for very small parties.
Lead birding field trips larger groups (schools).
Do birding field trips for large groups with other volunteers.

Conservation Efforts

Help protect, preserve and inform regarding conservation of Natural Resources

Assist in informing local leaders and politicians regarding GVAS view on development and legislation
Assist in identifying issues for GVAS
Assist in serving as liaison to other conservation groups

Nature Center Property

Come out and enjoy the Audubon area, get some exercise.

Volunteer on group work days. (Generally 1-2 week-ends/year)
Help maintain all GVAS property to remove non-native, invasive plants.
Help supervise the Mesa County Criminal Justice Workender Program (generally two day from 8:30a to 4p This would be for large project requiring 12 to 18 Alternative Sentencing people.)

Owl Monitoring & Bird Banding

You do not have to be a birder to help. Come have fun.

Assist with owl projects by monitoring locations, building boxes, counting owls
Assist with education programs (ex: bird banding) & meeting with children & adult groups

Audubon Administration

Make friends and learn about our organization.

Serving on the GVAS board and helping direct and select chapter activities
Assisting with administrative tasks such as mailings, finances, etc.
Take off phone messages and forward to correct party. Can be done from home. (Needs to be done daily)
